Paying to Fall Behind

Paying to Fall behind
Paying money only puts you in debt. The money you are paying back through student loans are only making you fall further and further behind in life. In my research I have found that Student loans have increased over the years and show no signs of slowing down. The world paints a picture of college being the only key to success but fails to portray the reality of how much more hard work you need to put into paying off the student loans after you graduate. With a lot of jobs being outsourced, many majors are hard to find footing in once these college graduates hit the working world. If this nation plans on working correctly and at its most efficient level major things need to change and change fast. This economy will only be fixed once the idea of student’s loans is revised into something that will truly help the student and not put the student into a serious almost lifelong debt that is really hard to pay off. Student loans need to have a lower interest rate and develop a system that aids the students in paying back the loans in a timelier manner.

College is designed to help people go into the world as a more confident and strong willed person. This part the colleges do right, most people that have been to college or are in college feel that they have an advantage over others who haven’t. This is true as well because most people with a college education have a greater advantage in getting a job. What the college system is doing wrong can be found in how they are handling money. Many students have to resort to loans so they can afford to go the school. These loans for the most part come from the federal government. These loans help at first because those students get to go to school and have their classes paid for. The real hardship begins once they have to pay those loans back. The interest rates that are given on these loans are high and very demanding. The challenge to pay these loans in a certain amount of time is made even harder when jobs are not a guarantee.

Another way things can be fixed is if the regulations of when the student loan needs to get paid back are changed. For example, right now there is a type of student loan that doesn’t begin charging the student interest until 6 months after they graduate. This is very helpful for the student because it gives them time to get firmly grounded in the working world and develop a way to pay back the loans. Even more importantly it gives them a chance to pay off whatever they can without interest during that 6 month waiting period.

In order to get ahead in life you need a little boost, that is what college is for right? Well with the way things are going right now, college will only put you far behind financially in life at a very young age. With society telling us that money is power and reassurance, it’s a wonder how and why college, something we need to finish to get ahead in life, only puts us behind in life.

Teachers with No Passion

Teachers Have no Passion

A Very important topic comes up when one talks about what makes a good teacher or what makes a class enjoyable for students. Just recently I watched The Passion Project by Skye Ontiveros and I couldn’t help but notice similarities between interviews. Most people feel that passion is something that drives us indivusal, something that excites us and gives us motivation through our love on a certain subject. This got me thinking about those teachers (who I’m sure everyone has had) that doesn’t bring such passion to their classroom. Which brought me to my question, what affect does the lack of passion by the teacher in the classroom have on their students. As brought out in The Passion Project, students like to feel a bond or reach a common ground with their teachers. This will instill trust and respect between student and teacher making class flow more smoothly and efficiently. In my research I came across an article named Support and Importance of Character Education: Pre-service Teacher Perception which touched on some of the effects on students that lack of passion in school has caused. If a teacher has no passion towards his or her job of educating the youth their attitude will only give students a bad example of how to go about life. As Jeff Bliss brought out on his rant some teachers loose there passion for their job and treat it as a “Paycheck”. This attitude makes “Some point out that today’s society emphasizes material possession over character development…” (pg2). As we know “Morals and values form an important foundation for our modern society” (Floyd D., Carlos R.,

Christopher D., Festus E.). With these new attitudes and developments happening in society today many have linked “…problems such as dishonesty… and overall lack of respect for authority…” (Floyd D., Carlos R., Christopher D., Festus E.). My question is, what is it going to take to get the classrooms back to what it used to be and just as important, restore our society?

A little about me

Hello everyone, my name is Barry Webb Jr and I am new to the blogging world. I have built this page to reflect one major aspect of my life, Football. With me being a PROUD Member of The Raider Nation, of course I’m going to design my page around the Oakland Raiders. Besides sports I focus my time on family, and school. I am studying to become a Civil Engineer because of my passion in building and creating something to be admired for ages to come. My dream is to one day build something of the significance and magnitude of the Golden Gate Bridge.  I have always been the kid that was excited to go to school because I love to learn. Right now I attend Chabot Community College, and so far I am enjoying my second semester on campus. Education has also always been an important aspect of my family, teaching me from a young age that education can be the key to the door of endless possibilities. Even though my Major involves more math then English skills I feel that this class can be an essential part to my future success. I plan on taking in all that I can retain in order to have “leg up” on the compotation when it comes to voicing my ideas and point of views during a job or job interview. The more I read, the larger my vocabulary becomes and the more critical thinking I can learn to apply in real life situations. Writing can help me learn how develop my own ideas and help me learn how to complete a thought correctly. I see that my willingness to learn being a great attribute in my college career. As long as I continue pursuing my education with a whole hearted devotion I know my college career will be successful and worth the effort.
